This morning Buttercup travelled around planet Earth exploring different habitats.  We looked at animals in the rainforest and were even rained on!  We talked about how much life rainforests support and the damage being done to them through deforestation.  We then explored the desert and how animals cope with the heat, for example scorpions being nocturnal.  We then looked at the night sky and looked at the different constellations, even spotting the scorpion in the sky!  Our next stop was the arctic.  This led to a demonstration on animal adaptation!  2 lovely volunteers helped to teach us about how animals have adapted to their environment in order to survive.  We looked at how animals have a thick coat to survive the cold, the importance of camouflage.  The highlight of this was the dry ice!  Our final destination was a rubbish dump, complete with the aroma of this environment.  This led to a discussion about steps we can take to care of planet Earth.
