During November, the charity Dementia UK are running a sponsored knitting campaign to raise money for families living with dementia. Some of our staff will be taking part in this event and it would be great if any parents, carers, children or friends of the school would like to take part too. You can find information on the Dementia UK website and can sign up via the Dementia UK Facebook page.

As part of this, we are hoping to knit poppies to help decorate the school for Remembrance Day and it would be brilliant if members of our community could support us in this. If you know any keen knitters, please let them know about this - we would be grateful for all knitted poppy contributions. (It doesn't need to be in time for this year's Remembrance Day.) Free knitting patterns can be found online on the Royal British Legion website.

Finally, we would love to invite parents, grandparents and members of the local community in to school for an afternoon to teach the children to knit. If you, or anyone you know, is able to knit and would be able to spare an afternoon to pass this skill onto the children of Kingsteignton School, please get in touch.

Thank you very much. As a school, we feel passionately about supporting those who are living with dementia, about teaching children to understand the significance of Remembrance Day and about providing our children with opportunities to learn a variety of different skills, so any support you could give us in any of these areas would be greatly appreciated.
